One-on-One (W)riting Midwifery, Instruction, Editing, & Mentorship:
(W)riting midwife, Sarah Elizabeth Schantz, is available to work with writers and students privately. She has helped writers draft and/or revise novels, chapbooks, poetry collections, short stories, essays, speeches, theatre pieces, and articles. She is also experienced in helping students with college applications, essays (both personal and academic), as well as thesis and dissertation work.
She has experience working with writers, artists, and actors as well as students of all ages. She has instructed and facilitated workshops for children, teens, and adults. She has mentored students in their twenties and in their eighties. Along with (W)rites of Passage, Schantz is faculty at Lighthouse Writers Workshop and teaches Creative Writing, Literature & Composition at Front Range Community College where she was named Master Teacher of all Campuses in 2018 (she also works in the Writing Center there). Past clients include Kiri Westby and Claire Sicherman who both have published memoirs after working with Sarah. Westby's Fortune Favors the Brave: An Extraordinary Memoir just debuted in 2020 from Post Hill Press (a imprint at Simon & Schuster) whereas Claire Sicherman's Imprint: A Memoir of Trauma in the Third Generation was published by Caitlin Press in 2017. Toni Oswald's poetry book, Sirens came out in 2021 from Gesture Press, and is another book Sarah helped midwife.
Her rates vary depending on the project and her availability tends to fill up fast (generally speaking she charges $5.00-$10.00 a page or $50.00-$75.00 an hour).
