In 2016 she was on two panels: 1. She discussed the "Essence of Darkness in Writing" with fellow writers, Kim Addonizio and Emily Rapp, at the Lighthouse Writer's Workshop in Denver, Colorado. 2. She participated in a panel for debut authors at the ALA conference in San Francisco, California.

She facilitates a workshop at Front Range Community College for Take Back the Night where she helps students write and perform a spoken-word poetry piece; she has facilitated a similar workshop for the creation of another student spoken-word poetry performance for Coming Out Day. In regard to the 2015 Take Back the Night workshop and performance, one student wrote the following to Sarah after the experience:"Thank you for being there, encouraging us to delve into the content, holding the space for us, and making such demanding work accessible ... Giving voice to what we ... (generated) in those (writing) sessions and via performance has had a profound impact on the healing of my own personal trauma ... I wanted you to know that the work we did together helped facilitate a radical shift in my approach to trauma, one that has encouraged me to give voice to what has been silenced for too long ..."--Jacqueline Tillman.
