SILENT SPRING:

A Creative Writing Workshop

FLORA April 4th

FAUNA: April 11th

FUNGI: April 18th

THE ENVIRONMENT|ECO-POETICS: April 25th

Silent Spring is the next workshop series in the seasonally-inspired, always thematic (W)rites of Passage Creative Writing Series facilitated by award-winning novelist & teacher, Sarah Elizabeth Schantz. Sarah serves as writing midwife by providing space to write in community. She offers literary examples for participants to study and assigns unique prompts designed to inspire both the novice & seasoned writer; calling upon the vital energies of spring, this forthcoming series will explore themes related to the environment & environmentalism. We will remember to sit in silence to observe the natural world; using our eyes, our ears, our hearts, and our words we will zoom in on Flora, Fauna, and Fungi to then pan out to take in the environment as a whole. Paying homage to Rachel Carson, Silent Spring will address issues regarding environmentalism via the practice of ecopoetics; we will treat the earth as shrine and worship at the altar of animal and plant-life as we use ritual to enter your|our story. Both poets & prose writers welcome. This is a safe space. Small workshops of no more than 8 participants guarantee the intimacy artists require to truly flourish.

This four-week series will take place on Saturdays from 11:00-2:30 in East Boulder (dates above). On the last Saturday, following the final workshop, from 2:30-4:00 p.m. there will be a salon|celebration|ceremony.

$200 for the entire series (includes a 15 page critique) or $60 for individual Saturdays. Please register by emailing us at writesofpassage13@gmail.com or clicking on the contact tab above. The blossoming bones of the wolf and fox alike are paintings by the exquisite visual artist Nunzio Paci.
