witch's summer:
a creative writing workshop series
from (w)rites of passage

Eve's Fall coming this autumn!

Witch's Summer will be 4 weeks long on Saturdays via Zoom from August 5th to August 26th, 2023, 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. MST

WEEK ONE: HAT (August 5th)

WEEK TWO: CAT (August 12th)

WEEK FOUR: BROOM (August 26th)

Each Saturday of Witch's Summer is designated by an individual sub theme designed to simultaneously fracture the overall concept and to expand it. With the witch's HAT upon our heads we will learn to stylistically express ourselves on the page before calling upon our familiar the CAT for guidance from beyond the veil to seance our|your story. We will brew both prosaic and poetic potions in the CAULDRON of our imaginations to anoint our BROOMS on which to go flying through the skies of the summer night to sweep out the old and then sweep in the new.

Sarah serves as a writing midwife by providing space to write in community. She offers literary examples for participants to study and assigns unique writing prompts designed to inspire both the novice and seasoned writer (these are tailored to meet the individual and collective needs each new classroom culture creates). Both poets and prose writers are welcome, as are all genres of writing (no snobbery here!). Come write your/our story. Small workshops of no more than 8 writers per Saturday guarantees the intimacy artists require to truly flourish.

$250 for the entire series (includes an 8 page critique in addition to the 4,000 words you will workshop over the four weeks) or $75 per Saturday. Please register by emailing us at

If you've noted the change in price please know how much we HATE having to do this, but with the current inflation impacting everything from the cost of rent to website prices to paper and ink, it was the only way we could maintain the sliding scale and scholarship services we always offer to one or two students. The truth is we offer some of the cheapest workshops and author services out there, and we've been charging the same amount for the series since we first began a decade ago. We can make arrangements for payment plans if need be and do inquire about financial assistance if needed. On the other hand, if you happen to be in a position to donate toward the scholarship fund, we would be grateful (please specify you are doing so for tax purposes). Thank you!
